Elena Walch
Elena Walch is a leading vineyard in South Tyrol under family proprietorship. Encouraging quality and innovation, Elena Walch stood at the head of the quality revolution in South Tyrol and has gained local and international esteem for her efforts. The great assets of Elena Walch are the two vineyards Vigna Castel Ringberg above Kalterer See, and Vigna Kastelaz above Tramin. All wines bear the clear signature of their producer and delight with their purity of taste, elegance and finesse. Elena Walch, formerly a successful architect, al so understands her current profession brilliantly. Responsibility for the family company has now been placed in the hands of daughters Julia and Karoline Walch, as the fifth generation of the family.

Winemaking
Traditional fermentation is carried out over 10 days at a controlled temperature in steel tanks. Subsequently, the biological acid degradation and storage takes place in 22- hectolitre wooden barrels and partly in 80-hectolitre wooden barrels made from French Allier or Slovenian oak.
Our tasting note
The Merlot has a gleaming garnet-red colour. Its nose is intensive and single tone, with fruity notes of wild berries, tangy aromas as well as chocolate. The wine wins over the drinker with subtle tannins, a robust texture as well as a wonderful richness and elegance. This Merlot is one of life's uncomplicated and comfortable pleasures with its softness and juiciness.

Winemaking

Our tasting note
Lagrein has a dense and intense ruby red color with violet reflections. The multi-faceted bouquet seduces the drinker with subtle herbal aromas, wild berries and sweet cherry in the background. It has distinctive tannins, smooth richness, a playful, rustic elegance and a youthful freshness as well as a juicy, long finish.

Winemaking
Traditional fermentation over 10 days in the steel tanks, followed by biological acid degradation in wooden barrels. Bottling and long maturing in bottles following 12 months in French barriques.
Our tasting note
The Cabernet Istrice has a gleaming garnet-red colour. A seductively tangy nose with coffee note and a light smoked aroma, refreshingly fruity with wild berries and black berries. The wine has a strong structure, subtle tannins and a fruity-tangy richness. The finish is long and juicy.

Winemaking
The grapes are gently pressed after harvesting. The fresh must is statically clarified at low temperatures and then fermented in steel tank at a controlled temperature of 20°C. The young wine matures for several months in steel tank on its fine lees.
Our tasting note
The Pinot Grigio captivates with bright straw yellow as well as with fruity notes of ripe pears, white pepper and some sage in the nose. Mineral-salty richness, juicy acidity as well as a persistent finish characterize the palate. A wine with backbone and an excellent food companion.

The Chardonnay has a brilliant straw yellow color and a fruity bouquet with exotic notes, pineapple and ripe apple and slightly floral aromas. On the palate, the wine is elegant and mild, with an interesting finish.

Winemaking
The grapes are gently pressed following harvest. The fresh juice is statically purified at low temperatures and then fermented at a controlled temperature of 18°C in steel tanks. The young wine matures over several months on its fine yeast in steel tanks.
Our tasting note
The Pinot Bianco has a clear, glowing yellow colour. Its nose has a fruity aroma of fresh apple and a hint of herb. This wine surprises the pallet with elegance, mineral richness, vibrant acidity and a fresh finish.
