Christian Weiss visits GüggeliBären

Christian Weiss, sales representative at Weibel Weine, recently visited GüggeliBären in Mägenwil. He enjoyed the “Barolo chicken with guanciale, barba di frate, and sage polenta” paired with a glass of Barolo DOCG from Luigi Oddero, while chatting with Gordon Kramer, the head chef.

What do your customers particularly appreciate about GüggeliBären?

Our customers particularly appreciate the variety of our menu. Of course, as GüggeliBären, we offer many chicken dishes, as expected. However, in addition to chicken, our menu features a wide range of other dishes, such as game and, at the moment, many braised dishes. This surprises and is highly appreciated by our clientele. Additionally, our customers can almost always find a parking spot and a free table since we have nearly unlimited space.

Which wines from Weibel Weine are customer favorites?

In first place is clearly the Morellino di Scansano DOCG from Podere 414, which we offer by the glass almost year-round. Also popular when served by the glass is the Lagrein Alto Adige DOC from Elena Walch. Among the most popular bottled wines is definitely the Promis Toscana IGP from Ca’Marcanda.

What is the house specialty? And what makes it special?

As the name of the restaurant suggests, the rotisserie chicken is our house specialty. We work with the Kneuss family, who are also the lessees of GüggeliBären. We source all our chicken products from them, which are locally sourced, right from the surrounding area. What sets us apart: we prepare each chicken fresh to order in a special rotisserie oven. This makes it particularly juicy and crispy, but it also takes 30 minutes from the time the order is placed.
