Gaja
The Gaja winery was founded by Giovanni Gaja in 1859, the great-grandfather of the current owner Angelo Gaja. Angelo is probably the most famous Italian winery owner internationally. No other winemaker has won the «Tre Bicchieri», the highest award from the Italian wine guide Gambero Rosso, as often as he has. He has been voted the «Man of the Year» by the Decanter and Winespectator magazines several times. The success of his wines is inseparable from his charismatic personality, and his life is a goodwill tour for the family vineyards. Gaja s wines are rooted in tradition, yet keep an eye on modernity. The company is now already in its fifth generation, and is managed by the two daughters Gaia and Rossana and son Giovanni. The Gaja family s vineyards now extend from Tus cany to Sicily. However, the Gajas home remains in the famous wine village of Barbaresco, where their unrivalled success story began.

Our tasting note
The fine cuvées from Vermentino, Viognier and Fiano invoke thoughts of the rich aromas of Bolgheri. Attractive aromatic nose of ripe fruits, blossoms and a hint of sweet honey. Full-bodied and expressive on the pallet, the wine combines floral and fruity taste nuances with the complexity and minerality of the barrique ageing.

IDDA Bianco Sicilia DOP
| Vintage | 2022 |
| Winemaker | IDDA |
| Region | Sicily |
| Grapes | 100% Carricante |
Winemaking
The vines grow at an altitude of 600 - 800 metres above sea level in the municipalities of Biancavilla and Belpasso at the foot of Mount Etna. After cold pressing of the whole grapes and static clarification, temperature-controlled fermentation between 18 and 20 °C takes place both in 10 hectolitre oak barrels and in stainless steel tanks. One year later, in October, the wine is bottled.
Our tasting note
The wine has a bright lemon yellow colour. The bouquet has aromas of citrus fruits, thyme and refreshing notes of mint and jasmine. Fresh and hearty on the palate with a lively, taut acidity, along with hints of white flowers, some flint, almonds and marzipan. Salty, long lasting finish.
