Winemaking
This Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru comes from a 0.46-hectare plot of Chardonnay vines planted in 1960 and 1989. The vines grow in clay-limestone soil that is organically and mechanically cultivated. The grapes are hand-harvested and carefully selected. The wine is aged for 12 months in 350-liter oak barrels, 15 to 20% of which are new, followed by an additional 4 to 6 months of maturation in stainless steel tanks before bottling. A notable feature of this appellation: it spans only 1.56 hectares and is shared among just six winemakers. It lies on the slope directly beside the Grand Cru «Chevalier-Montrachet» geographically linking the villages of Chassagne-Montrachet, Puligny-Montrachet, and Saint-Aubin.
Our tasting note
Deep straw yellow in the glass. The nose reveals aromas of yellow fruits and fresh apples. The pronounced limestone presence lends striking freshness, supported by subtle citrus and herbal notes that beautifully reflect the rugged terroir. On the palate, creamy warmth and taut minerality merge into a harmonious whole. Well-integrated acidity leads to a long, elegant finish.
Bruno Colin
Bruno Colin is a passionate winemaker with a solid technical and commercial education from the prestigious wine school of Beaune. In 1993, he joined the family estate Michel Colin-Deleger, where he worked alongside his parents and his brother. In 2003, the family decided to divide the estate into three independent domaines: Domaine Michel Colin-Deleger, Domaine Philippe Colin, and Domaine Bruno Colin. The following year, Bruno vinified his first vintage under his own name – the beginning of an independent success story. Today, Bruno Colin cultivates around 8.55 hectares of vineyards in some of the most prestigious terroirs of the Côte de Beaune – including the communes of Chassagne-Montrachet, Puligny-Montrachet, Saint-Aubin, Santenay, and Dezize-les-Maranges. With a total of 20 appellations – among them eight Premiers Crus in Chassagne-Montrachet – Bruno places the utmost importance on expressing the unique character of each plot. With a fine sense of balance and elegance, he captures the individuality of each parcel in his wines – precise, nuanced, and full of personality.
