Winemaking
Lot.1 2020 comes from the “Fontillatro Vecchio” vineyard, a well-ventilated natural terrace situated at over 210 metres above sea level. Planted in 1985, the vines are rooted in deep, layered sandy-loam soils with approximately 15% limestone content and a high presence of fossils. For the 2020 vintage, this parcel was deliberately selected, as it produced the most balanced and highest-quality grapes under the specific climatic conditions of the year – a clear expression of the estate’s philosophy of selecting the best-performing site each vintage. Fermentation with skin maceration lasted around 15 days and was intentionally kept slightly shorter to preserve freshness and the purity of the red fruit. The wine is aged for a minimum of 24 months in oak barrels. After bottling in September 2024, it continues to mature in bottle.

*** Delivery from March *** Bright, deep garnet red in colour. On the nose, clear aromas of red fruit, ripe cherries and plums emerge, complemented by floral nuances and subtle notes of forest floor, moss and finely integrated oak. On the palate, the wine is harmonious and well balanced, supported by an exceptionally fine, polished tannin structure. With each sip, it gains depth and complexity, revealing new layers while impressing with its softness and inner tension. A complex and elegant Brunello, marked by vibrant freshness and a long, smooth finish.
Conti Marone Cinzano
Conti Marone Cinzano is the new flagship project of the historic Marone Cinzano family, whose winemaking roots in Montalcino span more than five decades. Nearly 50 years ago, the family acquired the renowned Col d’Orcia estate, today regarded as one of the most important and traditional Brunello producers in the region. With Conti Marone Cinzano and its prestige Brunello Lot.1, the next generation, led by Santiago Marone Cinzano, pursues a deliberately independent and innovative approach. At the heart of the project lies an uncompromising philosophy of quality: for each vintage, only the finest grapes are selected, with the vineyard source for Lot.1 able to change from year to year. The decisive factor is always the parcel that shows the greatest potential under the specific climatic conditions of the vintage. The result is an exceptional, strictly limited Brunello – a precise expression of place, climate and vintage, vinified with the utmost care and elegance. The wines of Conti Marone Cinzano combine the classic structure and depth of great Brunello with modern finesse, freshness and inner tension. Conti Marone Cinzano thus represents a new generation of top-level wines from Montalcino – firmly rooted in the family’s great tradition, yet shaped by a contemporary understanding of terroir and excellence.
