Winemaking
The estate cultivates a small 0.07-hectare plot planted exclusively with Chardonnay. The vines were planted in 2019 and grow in clay-limestone soils. The vineyard is managed according to organic principles, with mechanical soil cultivation and careful ploughing. The grapes are hand-harvested with meticulous selection carried out directly in the vineyard. The «Le Cailleret» site lies directly adjacent to the prestigious Grand Cru «Montrachet» and covers only 50 hectares in total, with just four proprietors sharing the appellation. The wine is aged for 12 months in 350-liter barrels, 15 to 20% of which are new, followed by an additional 4 to 6 months in tanks before bottling.
Our tasting note
Brilliant golden yellow in the glass. The nose reveals an enticing bouquet of exotic fruits reminiscent of ripe pineapple, mango, and passion fruit, accompanied by delicate notes of white flowers. On the palate, it is full-bodied, smooth, and rich, supported by elegant acidity that delivers a fresh and vibrant finish. Subtle pepper and oak notes round out the flavour profile harmoniously, followed by a very long finish. A wine with remarkable ageing potential.
Bruno Colin
Bruno Colin is a passionate winemaker with a solid technical and commercial education from the prestigious wine school of Beaune. In 1993, he joined the family estate Michel Colin-Deleger, where he worked alongside his parents and his brother. In 2003, the family decided to divide the estate into three independent domaines: Domaine Michel Colin-Deleger, Domaine Philippe Colin, and Domaine Bruno Colin. The following year, Bruno vinified his first vintage under his own name – the beginning of an independent success story. Today, Bruno Colin cultivates around 8.55 hectares of vineyards in some of the most prestigious terroirs of the Côte de Beaune – including the communes of Chassagne-Montrachet, Puligny-Montrachet, Saint-Aubin, Santenay, and Dezize-les-Maranges. With a total of 20 appellations – among them eight Premiers Crus in Chassagne-Montrachet – Bruno places the utmost importance on expressing the unique character of each plot. With a fine sense of balance and elegance, he captures the individuality of each parcel in his wines – precise, nuanced, and full of personality.
