Winemaking
This Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru comes from a tiny 0.13-hectare plot planted exclusively with Chardonnay vines. The vines were planted in 1977 and grow on clay and limestone soil. The vineyard is organically farmed, using mechanical soil cultivation and gentle ploughing. The grapes are hand-harvested and carefully selected directly in the vineyard. The site lies at the foot of the legendary Grand Cru Montrachet, in a small, triangular basin. This Premier Cru appellation –formerly known as «Blanchot-Bâtard-Montrachet» – was once on the verge of being granted Grand Cru status. Its neighboring site, «Les Criots», was officially classified as a Grand Cru under the name «Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet» by decree on July 31, 1937. The total area of this exceptional appellation is only 1.17 hectares. The wine is aged for 12 months in 350-liter oak barrels, 15 to 20% of which are new, followed by an additional 4 to 6 months of maturation in stainless steel tanks before bottling.
Our tasting note
Rich straw yellow in the glass. The nose is full-bodied and rounded, with aromas of white blossoms and fresh fruits. On the palate, it impresses with its concentration, precision, and an almost ethereal elegance – qualities that undoubtedly make it worthy of Grand Cru status. The harmonious balance between fruity and floral notes gives it depth and complexity. A wine that captivates the palate and lingers long after the last sip.
